Nikkor Z 24-70/2.8 S. The F/2.8 is the more expensive cousin to the F/4 that is developed and marketed to professionals in the photography world as having "Uncompromising Optical Performance". This lens is sharper than the F/4 across the entire range of function for the lens, along with adding in the increased low light performance and
The 200mm f4 AIs is a real sleeper, it's a wonderful lens just never popular because of it's speed. So is the 80-200 f2.8 but that will cost you 3-4x as much. As mentioned above, the 35-105mm Ais is a great lens, very sharp. I sold mine for the 28-105mm AF-D which works as good or better in MF with film.

p.1 #3 · p.1 #3 · Nikon 70-200 F2.82.8E vs. Nikon 70-200 F4. The 70-200 f4 is 90% as good as the 2.8 FL when it comes to IQ. But, the 2.8 is obviously a faster lens. I had both and sold the 2.8 for the f4 because the f4 is much smaller and lighter (literally about half the weight). So it depends.

The nice thing about the 70-200 e fl is flexibility. It gives you a great 2.8 when you need it for lower light (but less reach) - and longer reach with the TC. The other thing you might consider is keeping the 70-200 f4 and adding an older used 300mm f/2.8 lens, which would work well with teleconverters.

Mar 20, 2019. #14. Consider the Tamron 70-200 G2. After debating over the Nikon 70-200 f/4 and 70-300 AF-P (FX) I decided to get the Tamron for the f/2.8 aperture and to save a little over the Nikon f/4. The Tamron is a great lens, on par with, or just slightly behind Nikon’s 70-200 FL, depending on the reviewer. .
